Reaching that milestone!

I recently received my 100th England cap competing against Poland in the Hockey World League semi finals in Johannesburg.

It was our opening game of the tournament in which we won 3-0 and it is a milestone I have looked forward to achieving ever since starting my senior hockey career. Β Playing for England comes with huge pride and none more so than this moment where I took time to reflect on the journey to reaching such a proud milestone.

I can remember my first cap well, playing out in Germany and I was a bag of nerves. It is one of my favourite memories, lining up with the rest of the team and many of the seniors came down the line and either gave me a hug or high five and told me just to enjoy it and have fun out on the pitch. Playing alongside the likes of Kate Richardson-Walsh, Alex Danson, Crista Cullen I was completely overwhelmed with what I was about to do. Instantly, just from the actions and words of my teammates I felt part of something special and a confidence to just give it my best and they will be right behind me. Needless to say, scoring in the game was just the cherry on top!

Each and every one of those 100 caps has been tremendously special and I have had the privilege of playing alongside many incredible hockey players who have most certainly impacted upon the player I am today. I will cherish this milestone and I look forward to working hard towards the next!
